Middlemarch

Rehearsal

This past weekend was absolutely incredible! My good friends Erik Schoster and Bryan Teoh from LuvSound.org stopped in New Orleans on the last leg of their Middlemarch tour, in support of Erik’s new album “Middlemarch” out now on Audiobulb. I was really honored to open for them at Zeitgeist Multi-Disciplinary Arts Center and McKeown’s Books. They’re amazing guys and brilliant musicians!

Pictures of the weekend’s two phenomenal performances can be found here!

We’re currently editing a ton of video and audio from these performances, and I’ll post here when it’s available. Until then, check out this gorgeous video by Bryan!

In other news, I’m nearing completion on my first album since 2005’s “hopecrash”. This one is tentatively titled “How Much We’ve Got”, and will hopefully appear on LuvSound.org sometime before next year.

We Heart File Sharing!!!

It’s been a lovely few days! I just played a fun show at a really neat art/salvage/recycling place called the Green Space. I’ve posted a recording of the show on my music page, and the patch I made for the occasion can be found in the Max/MSP section! Pictures to come soon!

And I’ll be doing a dj set with fellow Panda Kamander Amanda, on the 20th at the Pop Bar… If you’re in New Orleans please show up ready to daaaance! We’ll be playing super hip indie-dance stuff! Check us out at WeHeartFileSharing.com! (^_^)b

Exciting Times!

Summer Gate. Sun Made of Gave.

Two wonderfully exciting projects, both a long time in the works, have finally been released!

LuvSound.Org has just released the compilation “Summer Gate. Sun Made of Gave.” Since I last posted, the lovely Erik Schoster has invited me to co-curate Luvsound, and I’ve had a blast working on this compilation. It has totally surpassed our expectations: it’s huge, two full cd’s worth of some of the smartest new music, created by some truly thoughtful and bright people.

From LuvSound.Org:We’re interested in this tissue as a sort of living body - cells reproducing and being re-inserted as artistic production articulates itself and moves culture forward through a messy and wonderful strange loop. We hope this collection won’t be the end of a process, but a step along the way.”

Please check it out!

And Disquiet.Com has just released “Our Lives in the Bush of Disquiet”; a compilation featuring 12 remixes of Brian Eno and David Byrne’s 1981 sampling masterpiece, “My Life in the Bush of Ghosts”. Curated by the always insightful and discerning Marc Weidenbaum, “Our Lives…” is a really good listen. So far, my favorite tracks are from Stephane Leonard and My Fun. I’m super proud to have contributed to this great release.

From Disquiet.Com:For Our Lives in the Bush of Disquiet, I contacted a dozen musicians whose work I admire; I wanted to hear what their renditions of the Eno and Byrne tracks might sound like, and none of them had yet joined in the activities at the bush-of-ghosts.com website. With only a few exceptions, these individuals already participate regularly in the loose community of musicians who post their own music for free download on the web, via netlabels, social networking services or their own websites.”

“… Our Lives in the Bush of Disquiet opens with an entry, by AllThatFall, resembling what My Life in the Bush of Ghosts might have sounded like had it been created for the first time in 2006. It builds on our experience, as listeners, with music sewn from samples; what was once innovative to the point of confusion is now commonplace - the esoteric quality of the original’s haphazard construction has given way to music, like AllThatFall’s, that is comforting for all its ramshackle, jittery energy.”

Hi hi!

Grass

These are way exciting times! I’ve got a lovely girlfriend, a new website, and an almost-finished EP on the way! Things really couldn’t be better, and this webpage will be the virtual manifestation of all my gushy-ness and current optimism. I plan to just totally load this page up with bloggies, and max patches, and rocking tracks… PLUS I’ve ordered a bunch of super hip All That Fall buttons, and those will cost you exactly zero bucks as soon as I get them! Ok, it’s actually a bit late… A substantive post tomorrow, I promise!
